User Guide – Veterinary Check Records
The Veterinary Check module in IdeasFarm centralizes all health and reproductive checks that need to be performed on animals, based on previously defined veterinary control protocols.
Here, the user can see which animals are pending checks, record the inspection results, and maintain an up-to-date clinical history.
1. Overview of Checks
- Upon entering the module, animals scheduled for inspection are automatically displayed according to active protocols (e.g., dry cows, animals under treatment, post-service checks, etc.).
- The list is organized in tabs by group:
- 🟢 Dry Cows
- 🟢 Heifers
- 🟢 Milking Herd
- 🟢 Transition Cows
Each row includes:
| Animal ID and Name |
|
| Age and Group |
|
| Reason for Check |
e.g., metritis, days post-service, pregnancy confirmation, etc. |
2. Registration Options
In the top-right corner, you will find two buttons:
- ➕ Add Animal → Allows manually adding an animal to the check list, specifying date and reason.
- 📋 Global Registration → Used to mark general checks for the entire herd on a specific date (e.g., mass control of dry cows).
3. Register an Individual Check
To record an animal check:
- Select the “Register Check” button in the animal’s row.
- A unified form will open with different sections:
3.1. Treatment
- Select the type of record:
- Protocol (if following a predefined health protocol).
- Inventory (if it is a new or non-protocolized treatment).
- Fields to complete:
- Health status
- Applied health protocol
- Diagnosis
- Detected disease
- Drug used (with unit, route, and dosage)
- Milk/meat withdrawal period (if applicable)
3.2. Weights
- Record the animal’s current weight (Kg).
- Body Condition Score (BCS) evaluation on a 1–5 scale.
3.3. Reproductive Palpation
- Reproductive status: empty, pregnant, in estrus, etc.
- Veterinary diagnosis: allows detailing specific results (e.g., normal cycle, ovarian cyst, pyometra).
- Post-service indication: mark if the animal needs to be served or not.
- Option for re-check if a new inspection is required in X days.
4. Complete Check Flow
- IdeasFarm automatically displays animals to be checked.
- The user records the check by filling out the form.
- The information is saved in the animal’s clinical and reproductive history.
- If the check requires treatment, IdeasFarm adjusts inventories and generates milk/meat withdrawal alerts.
- The results affect herd health, fertility, and management indicators.
5. Benefits of this Module
